We deserve better. We can do better.
We deserve better. We can do better.
State Rep. Maureen Madden (D-115) noted staffers are digging into their own pockets to pay for supplies to care for clients, and despite working full time jobs, 36% of healthcare workers in nursing homes live in poverty while struggling with a near-impossible workload. Madden was also joined by other regional Democrats: Stroudsburg Mayor Tarah Probst, who is also running for the 189th district seat, and Meghan Rosenfeld, a candidate for the 139th district.f Representatives.
Meg Rosenfeld is the Democratic nominee for the139th district, and is recommended by the PSEA over Joe Adams—who also sought PSEA support but was rejected. She said, “If Doug Mastriano is elected governor and Joe Adams and other Republicans control the legislature, more than 100,000 teachers statewide may lose their jobs, but the worst damage will be to the children of Pennsylvania.
“I believe in public education, I believe in teachers, and I abhor the politicization of our public schools. Joe Adams touts his background as a school administrator, but won’t speak about his party’s plan to defund public education in Pennsylvania. Instead, he has chosen to align himself with groups that seek to destroy public education, and put our tax dollars into private schools with unqualified teachers who disseminate propaganda. The dismantling of public education will have devastating effects on our rural community, where families rely on our excellent public schools to give their children the best start in life.”
Keep your eye on Meg Rosenfeld. She is what’s good about Pike County and will make a strong, knowledgeable addition to the PA House of Representatives.
Speakers told their stories of involvement in the battle over women’s rights, how to combat the potential infringement of rights, and offered a mantra for post-Roe America. Speakers included Jackie Baker, candidate for PA Senate District 20; Tarah Probst, candidate for the PA General Assembly District 189 seat; and Meg Rosenfeld, candidate for the PA 139 seat.
With incumbent Mike Peifer stepping down after the current term ends in November, the seat for PA General Assembly district 139 is up for grabs.
“I’m proud to support Meg Rosenfeld for State House District 139,’’ said Cartwright. “I know Meg to be a true leader and ready to take on the issues that matter most to the people of this district. Whether it’s expanding access to quality healthcare in the region, providing the best education opportunities possible, or taking on the opioid epidemic, we need to send Meg Rosenfeld to Harrisburg, where I know she’ll be a real voice for this community.”
Delaware Valley Action! lights the way for democracy in January 6 remembrance
The Milford aquifer is an environmentally sensitive area, roughly 44 acres, that sits under the I-84 exchange. I firmly believe that if we can get past the adversarial construct that has defined the community conversation about development over the aquifer in the last several years, together we can find such a solution.
I’ve known Meg and her husband, Jason, and their family for nearly a decade. I was especially impressed a few years ago, when they co-chaired the Milford Enhancement Committee’s annual Welcome Party and helped engage many new people in our community in volunteerism. If elected to the legislature, her priorities will be on the local issues that require effective advocacy in Harrisburg, especially those affecting rural areas.
Our region has been neglected for too long, by politicians who don’t seem to understand the real struggles families, including families with disabilities, have been faced with, every day. Please vote on or before November 8 (we often vote by mail - convenient for our family, given our challenges), for Meg Rosenfeld or Tarah Probst, representatives that will work hard to bring needed funding for health care and emergency services to our neglected districts.
Vying to fill his seat are Joe Adams, the Republican Wayne County commissioner who calls himself a close friend of Peifer’s, and Meghan Rosenfeld, a Democratic Pike County resident and advocate who recently ran as a write-in candidate for the Delaware Valley School Board.
Progressive Women of NEPA is proud to announce our endorsed candidates in the upcoming November 8 general election. As legislators, they will diligently work to protect the reproductive freedom of PA women and address other vital issues facing our commonwealth.

I will defend our democracy and advocate for every local person to address our local issues, no matter how big or small. I will put the needs of people first and work towards solutions that improve the quality of life for my neighbors.
