We deserve better. We can do better.
We deserve better. We can do better.
We continue to boast high rankings for our public schools. Many young couples and families move here for the excellent education opportunities. Maintaining high quality education is a priority for any community that values families. Healthy schools equate to high property values which is a boon for our local economy. Giving our children an education that helps them become innovative, productive, and successful members of the community benefits us all.
We are entering a unique moment in United States history where decisive and bigoted rhetoric is seeping into our public schools through school board meetings. We need to equip the next generation with the skills necessary to exercise compassion and build an egalitarian community that embraces differences as a strength. Ensuring and maintaining high quality education insulated from socio political interference is of the upmost importance. I am a strong proponent of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) being taught in our schools.
In my recent campaign for school board, our Student Safety First Slate received the high honor of being the first candidates to ever receive the Delaware Education Association's endorsement. My commitment to defending our educators and administrators is steadfast. Our children's education is personal to me as a mother in the district but protecting its integrity is even more important to me as a former educator.
Where is our higher education? We certainly have enough motivated, creative and intelligent high school graduates that could benefit from an affordable local community college option or trade school certification programs.
Workforce development would benefit from college sponsored trainings for key industries in our area. Those with certifications and degrees have a better opportunity to find employment that will pay a living wage. When in office I will seek grants for the establishment of satellite trade schools and community colleges associated with Pennsylvania Colleges and Universities to serve my neighbors in the 139th district.
